MISSION

We exist to allow the PRESENCE of God to fill and direct us as the PEOPLE of God so that we live out the PURPOSE of God to the GLORY of God.

core values

Acts 1-6 describes the DNA of the early New Testament church, outlines the expectations they had of the Lord, and demonstrates their existence with God. We believe that inhabiting these core values align us with God's agenda for His church. These 12 core values kingdom convictions, relational dynamics, and supernatural expectations. [help us practically align with God's presence in His people for his purposes and glory:]

  • Before denominations existed, there was the Kingdom. Before preferences within the church, there was His Presence!

Before Jesus ascended to Heaven, He spent 40 days with His disciples. During those 40 days, He spoke to them concerning the Kingdom of God. Above all, Jesus wanted His disciples to focus on and facilitate the Kingdom of God upon the earth. From Acts 1 we learn that the first believers were decidedly Kingdom in at least the following ways:

    • Desperate for the Sprit (1:2-5, 7-8)
    • Devoted to Prayer (1:14)
    • Diligent in the Scripture (1:16)
    • Dependent on the Lord's Leadership (1:24)

In these ways, the newly forming community of faith maintained the ability to be Decidedly Kingdom above all else. They did not let preferences and trends determine who and how they would be. Those decisions were already formed by the Kingdom of God in which they now belonged. Because they modeled this:

WE WILL BE DECIDEDLY KINGDOM IN THE WAY WE PROCESS LIFE, RELATIONSHIPS, AND DECISIONS

  • During His last 40 days on earth, Jesus emphasized the necessity of waiting upon His Spirit before attempting to advance the Kingdom. Chapter 2 of Acts opens with the coming of the Spirit. Now, the group of early believers would be able to advance the Kingdom by the presence of God in the people of God. From Acts 2, we see the New Testament community beginning to live as His witness by being:

    • Receptive to the Sprit (2:1-7)
    • Receiving from Prayer (2:1-7)
    • Replying with Scripture (2:14-16)
    • Responding with the Lord as Leader (2:24, 32-33)
Jesus said, 'You will be My witnesses." They were and the result was the advancement of the Kingdom:

WE WILL LIVE AS HIS WITNESS ON THE EARTH
  • When Peter addressed the crowd in Acts 2:36-41, He preached on the necessity of Jesus as both Savior and Lord. Peter pointed out that following Jesus required responding to the Lord's word and to His Spirit.

    • "God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified." - Acts 2:36
    • "So those who received His word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls." - Acts 2:41

The early church understood that there was no salvation apart from Lordship. He is both our Savior and our Lord. Because He is Lord:

WE WILL LIVE UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF THE LORD THROUGH INTENTIONAL RESPONSES TO HIS SPIRIT AND WORD

  • In Acts 2:42-43, we see the early New Testament church devoting themselves to:

    • The Apostles' teaching
    • The fellowship
    • The breaking of bread
    • The prayers
    • The Result: Awe came upon every soul, and many signs and wonders were being done...

Acts 2:46-47 shows the further results of that devotion:
"And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved."

In short, Devotion to the Lord cultivated Awe which brought about Blessing:

WE WILL CULTIVATE A CONTINUAL AWE OF GOD BY DEVOTING OURSELVES TO THE THINGS OF GOD
  • In Acts 2:46-3:10, Peter and John were on their way to the temple to worship and to pray. They encountered a man lame from birth, begging for money outside the temple. Peter and John took time to minister to the man's deep need and were used by God to grant him access into God's presence.

    • "Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, He asked to receive alms." - Acts 3:3
    • "And Peter said, 'I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!' " - Acts 3:6
    • "And leaping up, He stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God." - Acts 3:8

Peter and John looked beyond the surface and met the need of the lame mans soul. They took time, listened to the Lord, and ministered to an individual. They were used by God to change someone's life:

WE WILL LIVE AS AMBASSADORS OF ACCESS BY GOING BEYOND THE SURFACE AND DEALING WITH THE DEEP NEED FOR GOD IN OTHERS

  • In Acts 3:11-26, when Peter and John recognized that the people were in awe, they made sure to point to God, not themselves. They demonstrated humble confidence in God and offered to the crowd the soul refreshment only God can provide.

    • "Why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or piety we have made Him walk?" - 3:12
    • "And His name--by faith in His name--has made this man strong whom you see and know, and the faith that is through Jesus has given this man this perfect health in the presence of you all." - 3:16
    • "Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord..." - 3:19-20

WE WILL EXHIBIT HUMBLE CONFIDENCE IN GOD AND OFFER OTHERS REFRESHMENT FROM GOD

  • We see in Acts 4:7-23 Peter and John helped their new brother stand in his newly experienced freedom. They helped the no longer lame man to stand up against the enemy and grow in God at the same time. In short, Peter and John stood united with the no longer lame man.

Therefore, as a body of believers, We will stand together in the Truth of God. We will help one another walk in our identity as God's children...

  • WE WILL DEMONSTRATE OUR FREEDOM IN GOD

  • WE WILL EXPECT TO EXPERIENCE GREAT POWER AND GREAT GRACE FROM THE LORD

  • WE WILL WALK IN THE PROPER FEAR OF THE LORD AND THUS ENJOY THE ACTUAL FAVOR OF THE LORD

  • WE WILL REFUSE THE ENEMY'S TACTICS THROUGH OBEDIENCE TO AND CONFIDENCE FROM ALL THE "WORDS OF THIS LIFE"

  • WE WILL APPOINT QUALIFIED SERVANTS TO THE WORK AND DEVOTE FOCUSED SERVANTS TO THE WORD
